What is a workshop?
In a workshop, students work on key tango movements and concepts in a concentrated amount of time. We offer workshops over the course of one afternoon/evening, an entire weekend, or over the course of a month. No partner necessary. Pre-registration is highly encouraged for each workshop to ensure there is proper role balance for each workshop. We will make every attempt to have an equal number of leaders and followers.

Virginia Pandolfi is recognized in the world of tango, not only for her talent as a dancer, but also for her abilities as a teacher. She is also a milonguera and stands out for having an elegant, authentic and musical dance. Her beginnings were influenced by an apprenticeship linked to stage tango, but over time the direction of her career leaned strongly towards improvisational dance, ballroom dancing, and milonguero style. She studied ballet from the age of 4 and began tango in 2002. She has been traveling since 2006, teaching and dancing in prestigious festivals and schools around the world. She was a judge at the World Tango Championship and numerous sub-venues in the country and around the world. Her dance today is the fruit of a path composed of two fundamental ingredients, the love of dance and the commitment to work. In her role as a teacher, her classes are the space to understand tango with these two axes as basic principles for the learning path. She is the creator and organizer of Mujercitas Tango Festival.

A Brief History of Los Totis
Christian Marquez and Virginia Gomes — now two of the most renowned tango dancers — started dancing and learning the craft together in 1996.
They were described as brilliant students by their tango teachers — another legendary couple — Natalia Games and Gabriel Angio. Aside from sowing the most effective tactics from this couple, they were also students of some of the most amazing tango masters: Jorge Raul Bravo, Pedro Faraldo, and Mingo y Esther Pugliese. Raul — who is also referred to as the Maestro de Maestros — is a living tango legend. This tango maestro and his skills are unmatched, and passing them down to Christian and Virginia was indeed an inspired idea.
Los Totis’ style was also mainly inspired and derived from the remarkable moves of the couple mentioned above, Gabriel and Natalia.
Their specialty was stage tango, and they used flashy, sharp movements to emphasize the essence of Tango in the performance.

We started dancing tango in Zagreb, Croatia in 2002 in a small group of enthusiasts curious about this “new” dance. Some five years later we began giving regular lessons at the Tango Argentino Zagreb dance school. Our first and most influential teachers were Pablo Rodríguez and Noelia Hurtado. Later we continued to study with Noelia and Carlitos Espinoza. We also studied with Federico Naveira and Inés Muzzoppapa, Bruno Tombari and Mariangeles Caamaño and Chicho Frumboli and Juana Sepúlveda, among others.
Since 2014 we are working with tango professionally, holding workshops and performing all over Europe (Amsterdam, Minsk, Florence, Karlsruhe, Genova, Budapest, L´Aquila, Freiburg, Treviso, Poreč, Mantova, Halle, Sevilla, Lisbon, Procida, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Reykjavik etc.). In 2018 we have started to work in North America, Asia and Australia.

Their dance careers started long before meeting, then Claudio asked Helena to dance with him and, well the rest is history. Claudio says “After that, love blossomed.” Now they are one of the most sought after couples to perform, teach and Judge at International Festivals, Events and Important Competitions Worldwide. Los Villagra have been touring extensively in all America, Europe and Asia since 2014. They are known not only for their elegance, precision and musicality, but also for their unique signature method “The Spiral Technique” created and developed by them. Every year more and more followers show respect and admiration for their amazing pedagogy that stems from their passion, dedication and respect to all the traditions of Argentine Tango. Although Tango has evolved through the years, Los Villagra remain dedicated to the Tango they know and come to love – the Tango that emphasizes embrace, walk, musicality, feeling and the traditional milongueros codes.

Together since 2009, they believe that the connection, musicality, and technique are the keys to fully appreciate the beauty of Tango. In their classes they want to concentrate on how to be comfortable inside the embrace, based on the logic and naturalness of the movement. They travel all around the U.S. as well as abroad (Canada (BC areas), Mexico, Poland, India, Italy, etc…) to perform and share their tango knowledge at festivals and weekend workshops. With their athletic background and other dances previous to tango, one can easily see the coexistence of traditional tango movements and philosophy working in symmetry with a nontraditional influence, the end result is an eye-catching and entertaining performance.
In Chicago, their classes are taught with an eye on encouraging and nurturing individual artistic styles while at the same time stressing the core movements and strong values of traditional tango. Their infectious energy and love of the dance has created a large following of students in Chicago and the surrounding area. They are the founders of 312 Movement & 312 Tango, which organizes events (monthly milongas and weekend workshops), djaying, performing, and teaching. When they are in their home town (Chicago), you can easily find them supporting various tango events and social dancing at one of the weekly/monthly milongas.
Most recent 2022 teaching/performing travels entail - 4th Holiday Tango Weekend (Dallas), Tango Maya Festival (Cancun), Tango on the Rocks (Denver), and various weekend workshops at different cities/communities. They also created an annual festival in July (since 2017) – Windy City Tango Festival.
